The clock is ticking, and it's time to confront a bold truth: you've been deceived by your own perception of time.
Day after day, you overestimate what you can accomplish in a single day or week... only to vastly underestimate the profound transformation a year can bring.
As a result, you're left...
- Battling against the gravitational pull of stagnation, where immediate gains take precedence over long-term growth, hindering your progress and potential.
-
Frustrated by the lack of tangible results and a sense of meaningful progress.
-
Craving a breakthrough that propels you towards the next level of personal growth and self-actualization, unlocking greater fulfillment and well-being.
And above all else, you find yourself dreaming of a future where you can look back a year from now and proudly say, "Look how far I've come."
It's time to leave behind the shackles of short-term thinking (let's be real, how many times has "this will be the week I finally turn everything around" ever worked?) and embrace a new paradigm—
One that recognizes the immense power and potential of a purposeful year dedicated to personal growth.

Have we met?
Hey— I’m Amanda Hilton, a personal growth and psychology specialist and the founder of The Simply Well.
I began my own wellness journey about a decade ago when, amidst the hustle and bustle of compounding responsibilities and the pressure to "do it all," I began to crave a holistic feeling of well-being that could help me sustain my busy lifestyle. And while I didn’t find a one-size-fits-all solution to well-being (and "working on myself" didn't automatically resolve my stress or overwhelm), I did find that the small, positive, intentional things I practiced on a daily or weekly basis rippled outward into other areas of my life, and I began to shift my foundational beliefs about what it means to be "well."
But there was just one problem.
While my foray into the wellness industry offered me some direction and hope, finding balance and consistency throughout the process proved to be more challenging. The occasional yoga class and sporadic positive psychology intervention weren’t cutting it— and as the years of early adulthood passed, I found myself oscillating between feeling like I had to “do it all” (Have you ever felt pressured by the self-help gurus to wake up at 4:45 AM to fit in a workout, meditation, journaling, walking, yoga, reading, and a cold shower all before starting the workday?! *cough* Yeah, uhh, me neither 🙄) or losing my momentum altogether and failing to make time for any personal growth or wellness practices at all.

I realized that in order to sustain my well-being over the long run, I needed to anchor personal growth into my life in a way that was simultaneously systematic and flexible. In other words, I craved pathways for growth that felt structured and practical (so that I could trust their efficacy and actually rely on them), but also elastic enough to allow me to adapt them to my unique needs, goals, and lifestyle (no more mindlessly following someone else’s “10 guaranteed steps to success” and crossing my fingers that it would finally work).
Over the last several years, I’ve dedicated myself to understanding personal development from numerous angles, including academic (receiving my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Spirituality Mind-Body Studies from Columbia University) and experiential (testing out self-growth practices in my own life— ranging from mega-popular to über-niche), and developed my educational Instagram account and popular Take What You Need email newsletter to help others do the same. And now, I’m combining my knack for breaking down empirical psychology research into bite-sized strategies and my background in educational theory and curriculum design to make personal growth more accessible and actionable than ever before through the State of Self Membership!
If you’re ready to learn the best personal growth tools available today (without needing to sift through the endless the noise and fluff in self-help industry to find them), State of Self was made for you.
